“Lewis is the most eloquent and emotionally sophisticated songwriter I have ever heard… a must see!”
Richard Werner, B&B Studios, 2019
2021 marks a new beginning for 20 year old singer/songwriter Lewis McLaughlin. After a quiet year due to COVID-19, Edinburgh born multi-instrumentalist/songwriter has a busy year ahead of him. With an EP (Paper in the Rain, 2019), a number of singles, and countless well attended performances around Scotland and beyond behind him already, Lewis’ determination to successfully create boundary breaking music won’t be hindered, even by a global pandemic.
With heartfelt spellbinding lyrics reminiscent of John Martyn or Tom Waits, and intricate, soothing musical arrangements, Lewis has made a name for himself on the local music scene as a capable and impressive music creator and performer. Currently based in Glasgow, Lewis is working on his debut solo album, working with highly respected and talented producer Andy Monaghan (Frightened Rabbit), due to be released by the end of 2021.
Despite being influenced by the music of the last century, the music Lewis creates is something very current and exciting, drawing influences from current artists such as Villagers, Bon Iver and Pheobe Bridgers. Collaborating with some of the most prolific up and coming musicians and songwriters in Scotland at the moment, Lewis merges his background in folk music with modern production ideas to create something that will leave the listener speechless and dying for more.
